Geeks at Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The Electric Eye
MIT researchers are developing a microchip that will enable a blind person to recognize faces and navigate a room without assistance, helping the blind to regain partial eyesight. The chip, which is encased in titanium to prevent water damage, will be implanted onto a patient’s eyeball. Users are required to wear special glasses fitted with a small camera that transmits images to the titanium-encased chip, which fires an electrode array under the retina that stimulates the optic nerve. The glasses will help to power the coils surrounding the eyeball.

Geeks at Intel.... Creating Future!

What? Really? That’s the kind of reaction i had when i first read about this breakthrough innovation from Intel. To just give you an idea about the intensity of this experiment, 50Gbps data transfer speed can transfer an HD movie in just a second.

Idea behind this technology is quite simple, but effective. Photonic Link uses lasers (photons) to transfer data, rather than electrons, hence, dramatically increasing the data transfer speeds. To add to your excitement, this is just the starting phase for this technology, and Intel expect to achieve as much as 1Tbps (1000Gbps) speed in future.

Geeks at SRM University, Chennai

Types of Geeks!

Geeks come in many flavors. The flavors relate to the vocation (or, if a student, what they are training in) of the particular geek. To start a code, a geek must declare himself or herself to be a geek. To do this, we start the code with a "G" to denote "GEEK", followed by one or two letters to denote the geek's occupation or field of study. Multi-talented geeks with more than one vocational training should denote their myriad of talents with a slash between each vocation (example: GCS/MU/TW).

GB --- Geek of Business
GC --- Geek of Classics
GCA -- Geek of Commercial Arts
GCM -- Geek of Computer Management
GCS -- Geek of Computer Science
GCC -- Geek of Communications
GE --- Geek of Engineering
GED -- Geek of Education
GFA -- Geek of Fine Arts
GG --- Geek of Government
GH --- Geek of Humanities
GIT -- Geek of Information Technology
GJ --- Geek of Jurisprudence (Law)
GLS -- Geek of Library Science
GL --- Geek of Literature
GMC -- Geek of Mass Communications
GM --- Geek of Math
GMD -- Geek of Medicine
GMU -- Geek of Music
GPA -- Geek of Performing Arts
GP --- Geek of Philosophy
GS --- Geek of Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, etc.)
GSS -- Geek of Social Science (Psychology, Sociology, etc.)
GTW -- Geek of Technical Writing
GO --- Geek of Other. Some types of geeks deviate from the normal geek activities. This is encouraged as true geeks come from all walks of life.
GU --- Geek of 'Undecided'. This is a popular vocation with incoming freshmen.
G! --- Geek of no qualifications. A rather miserable existence, you would think.
GAT -- Geek of All Trades. For those geeks that can do anything and everything. GAT usually precludes the use of other vocational descriptors.

Geeks all the Way!

It is truly an honor to have you all here. We people have been under the hiding for many years now. Its time that we made our presence felt. People don't know about us because they don't know us by that name. It'll feel strange at first, but if it hadn't been for us, mark my words, the world would not have been as it is now. We are the people driven by technology and think of all the "cool" ways in which it can be used.

Had it not been for the Geeks, who progressed so far to create something as efficient and miraculous as the Internet, I wouldn't have the pleasure to have you all here.

Its the passion to be the "coolest" makes us do wonders. Take for example everything that you see on the Internet. Its like a Geek legacy. Some created Internet, others followed and made it what it is now.... and whats more to come is going to be as miraculous.

To quote one from the millions, Mark Zuckerberg, has squeezed the world around us to the size of a mere mobile phone. He is one of the many that we know, but its not just because of him that we are able to use facebook, but because of those who are following his legacy to make it work.... We!!(the hidden Geeks).

We are the people who reside in each and every corner of the world. Be it in colleges, schools, offices, you name it and we are there doing something or the other with our cool gadgets to get more out of the present technology.

Sometimes we find something new, and think that, its not worth sharing with others, and we discard it. At this, point the new legacy which may have evolved, breaks down. There may be many cool things that we don't have today because of this.
Its time that we made our presence felt by sharing our crazy discoveries, which otherwise may go unnoticed, with the World.

and remember....Spread the Word...

" Geeks are born as Geeks, and not created, so Cherish being ONE"
